Nicki Minaj is the top Female Rap Artist For 2023 at the Billboard Awards

Nicki Minaj expresses gratitude to her Barbz for their unwavering support as she secures the top female rap artist award at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday (Nov. 19).

During her acceptance speech, Minaj extends thanks to the Billboard Music Awards for recognizing her as the best female rap artist of 2023. The event, which unveils some early winners ahead of performances and additional awards at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT via BBMAs.watch, witnessed Minaj's heartfelt acknowledgment of her dedicated fan base: "Barbz, you are amazing. I appreciate you so much."

This marks Minaj's inaugural victory in the top female rap artist category, introduced at the BBMAs in 2018. While the number of potential prior wins remains unknown, her dominance in 2013, where she clinched the overall top rap artist award, hints at her consistent excellence.

In that year, Minaj also earned recognition as the top streaming artist, and her album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded secured the top rap album honor.

Minaj, now a five-time Billboard Music Awards winner out of 27 finalist appearances, anticipates her next significant project in her acceptance video. She announces the release of Pink Friday 2 on her birthday, December 8th, promising it to be "the best album that’s been released in years!!!" Minaj blows a kiss to the camera as she signs off.
